Cheerleading
The Life, the Lies, and the Love of the Sport
About Me
My name is Gabby and I am a senior at Marist College. I began dancing at age 4 and cheerleading at age 8. For as long as I can remember. cheerleading has been a part of my life.
Cheerleading is a big part of who I am. It has made me a strong, determined leader.
Age 5 in one of my first dance recitals.
Age 8 at one of my first games as a cheerleader.
Age 12 the year we were allowed to start stunting.
About This Project
I am a digital media major with a concentration in graphic design and a double minor in advertising and photography. This website is my senior thesis project about cheerleading. It encapsulates all my passions: cheerleading, design, and photography. Cheerleading is a very niche sport that is widely known but not fully understood.
My photography minor helped me to capture injuries and show athletic stunts. My design concept for the website is based on the thick lines and color blocking typically seen on a cheerleading uniform. I use the red and white colors of Marist College and incorporated black and greys too.

This project discusses the stereotypes in cheerleading and reveals their falseness. I illustrate that cheerleaders are smart, determined people outside of the gym who better themselves every day.
